WATERLOO - A fair housing report shows a lot of work remains to integrate the city's neighborhoods. "Historical patterns of racial segregation persist in Waterloo," said the report completed by Mullin & Lonergan Associates Inc. "Of the 20 cities in Iowa with populations exceeding 25,000, Waterloo ranks as the most segregated."

Wherever companies relied on advertising to make money, wherever companies were profiting by a lack of transparency or a lack of competition, wherever friction could be polished out of the system, those industries suffered.

Raz spoke to about 40 members of San Francisco's Jewish LGBT community on November 2, a day after Israeli officials announced the arrest and detainment (which occurred last month) of a suspect in the attack. However, Israeli police don't believe the suspect is the gunman.
"There was blood everywhere," recounted Raz.
A former editor for an Israeli newspaper, she said that she used her press card to bypass security. She saw the blood, the kids, and "could still hear screams," she told her San Francisco audience.

In July, Glenn Beck infamously stated that he believes President Obama is "a racist" with a "deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." These comments played a major role in at least 80 advertisers dropping their support of Beck's television program. Numerous media outlets and personalities rebuked the comments, but Fox News gave Beck a free pass. Why?
Well, the reason is now clear: Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp., the parent company of Fox News, agrees that President Obama is a racist. This is a new low even for Fox, and one we cannot let stand.
Since Murdoch refuses to rebuke Glenn Beck - we need to hold him accountable and demand that he apologize for his own hateful remarks.

We work hard to prepare a hot dinner in a welcoming environment. We serve the elderly, disabled, low income, homeless families with children and those that do not have a family or a place to go. Our dinners average a thousand people each holiday and take place at the First Unitarian Church at the corner of Franklin and Geary Streets. Everyone is welcome!

From the article: Let me be perfectly clear. Carrie Prejean’s position on gay marriage is a non-issue to me. It’s not my position but I can understand someone feeling that way. Nor do I care if that same person poses for topless photos or makes a sex tape. But if the same person holds herself up as some kind of champion of family values and personal conservatism, well, it’s an issue. And it’s an even bigger issue if that same person has already made some very questionable excuses when a series of topless photos of herself had previously surfaced. But not surprisingly, none of those issues seemed to occur to Sean Hannity as he interviewed Prejean Monday night (11/9/09). In fact, he was so sympathetic, he helped her explain away the blatant hypocrisy – about the sex tape, that is. He seemed to have developed a case of amnesia about the topless photos. Meanwhile, as Prejean repeatedly called the tape a mistake, made when she was a teenager, she never once said anything about the behavior being a mistake. Instead, as Prejean bragged about how she took “total responsibility” for the video, she seemed to take no responsibility for having engaged in such lewd behavior with a man not her husband - and as a teenager no less. In fact, Hannity praised her for giving advice to young girls in her newly released book. With video (of the Fox News interview, not the sex tape).

It was a devastating blow to the LGBT community, but the fight for equality is far from over.
